Fishing with Dennis   October 26, 2002

I fished Saturday October 26 on Dennis' boat.  It was supposed to be rainy and "sloppy" and it was supposed to be our experiment to see how sea sick I would get by using meclizine instead of the patch.  It was dark and rainy in Mira Mesa when I woke up at 4:30 AM, and I REALLY didn't want to get out of bed to go out to a rainy ocean and potentially be sick as well as wet and cold.  Man was I ever surprised how beautiful it was on the ocean!  It was calm and sunny.  We had a great day out there.

And it might have been too calm to tell for sure, but it seems that my first experiment with meclizine was a complete success.  I felt SO much better than I feel with the patch -- it was great.  I didn't get that fuzzy headedness that the patch causes, or the dry throat.  In a way I'm sorry I waited so long to try it, but on the other hand, better late than never.

We would drop our (Dennis') lures down to the bottom of the ocean.  I could actually feel the bottom, and then pull up a little, and suddenly the line would be heavy.  These fish don't fight at all.  They just hang on.  It was fun to see the variety of fish that we caught.  After we both got a few Salmon Groupers, Dennis moved the boat to another area where he heard there were Ling Cod.  That worked out great, as you can see from the pictures.  He was especially pleased with his big fat "Cow Cod" (first picture.)
